First off let me start by saying this: Specs mean nothing. Contrast ratios and milliseconds are the most misleading numbers to depend on when purchasing an LCD. Before buying any monitor do yourself the favor of seeing it in action! I work for a reseller in Canada and have done many comparisons an LG is my favorite , specifically the 1750 / 1751 . here's why.
Thumbs up:
Great image quality. Photos , text , movies and games look superb on this screen. Clear well defined. No double lines or weird artifacts. Color is rich , deep and vibrant without being saturated like BenQ's and Acer's.
Nice clean simple design available in silver or black.
Menu is simple to use and thankfully the Gamma can be turned down (I recommend -50).
LG was intelligent enough to NOT included BrightView/TrueBright/So-glossy-I-can't-read-it feature on many other LCD's.
The base has a nice little feature that makes you wonder why all LCD's don't include this : a little metal ring that contours the base so that the LCD can turn without
scratching it or your desk.
Thumbs down:
No DVI (which doesn't change a thing at these sizes in my opinion)
No 180 degree pivot feature (In this price range it's not surprising).
Final word:
I am heavily biased towards LG-Phillips and Samsung LCD panels for their image quality and color . Finding out which companies (HP,Dell,Apple,Viewsonic) buy their panels from who can be tough sometimes . Which is why I prefer buying them straight from the company who made the panel.
